My experience with JGM

Updated: 20 hours ago

My experience with JGM Innovation has truly been a transformative journey, one that has allowed me to grow not only as a video editor but also as a professional and person. When I first began my internship, I expected to gain some basic understanding of how videography works and maybe sharpen a few editing skills. However, the experience ended up exceeding my expectations in every possible way. From day one, I was welcomed by a team of colleagues who were not only talented but also passionate, supportive, and genuinely invested in helping me succeed. The company environment felt both professional and personal, creating a space where creativity was encouraged and hard work was appreciated.

One of the most valuable aspects of my internship was the hands-on learning experience. Instead of simply being assigned repetitive tasks or small projects that did not matter, I was trusted with meaningful work that contributed to real projects. I had the opportunity to edit promotional content, assist in production planning, work with raw footage, and even participate in brainstorming sessions. These moments allowed me to apply the skills I already had while also learning new techniques and approaches. I discovered how to tell compelling stories through video, how to use pacing to create emotion, and how small visual details can make a huge impact on the final product. I also became more familiar with industry-standard software and tools, which boosted my technical abilities and gave me confidence in my craft.

I also learned a lot about professionalism and the workflow of the videography field. Before this internship, I had only worked on personal projects or school assignments, but working with a company like JGM Innovation helped me understand how real clients, deadlines, and expectations shape the editing process. I learned the importance of time management, organization, and communication. I saw how projects move from initial concepts to final delivery, and I learned how to adjust to feedback quickly and professionally. Whether I was collaborating with a team member like Samanvita Cheemalapati on a timeline or reviewing footage with a supervisor, I realized how essential teamwork and clarity are to producing quality work.

A major highlight of my experience was the guidance and mentorship I received. My mentor Waldo Guevara is incredibly knowledgeable, patient, and inspiring. His advice went far beyond just editing tips. He often reminded me to pay attention to small details, to trust my creative eye, and to never limit myself based on what I already know. He pushed me to try new techniques, experiment with effects, and explore storytelling from different angles. He also shared insights about the industry, including how to build a portfolio, network professionally, and create opportunities in a competitive field. The wisdom he shared will stay with me long after this internship, and it has already influenced how I approach future projects and career decisions.

What made this internship even more meaningful was the positive and motivating work culture. Everyone at JGM Innovation treated me as part of the team rather than just another intern. I felt respected, encouraged, and valued. There were always opportunities to ask questions, seek advice, or share ideas, and that allowed me to grow not just technically but creatively. Working with such talented people motivated me to push myself harder and constantly improve. I also learned how powerful collaboration can be when a team brings together different perspectives and ideas, the result is often something truly special.

Overall, my experience with JGM Innovation was one in a million. It opened doors for me that I never thought possible and built a foundation for my future in videography. I gained real-world experience, sharpened my editing skills, developed professional confidence, and formed meaningful connections. Most importantly, this internship helped me discover how passionate I truly am about video editing and storytelling. I now feel more prepared and excited to continue pursuing opportunities in this field. Looking back, I am extremely grateful for this experience, and I would not trade it for anything. It was more than just an internship, it was a stepping stone toward my future, and I will always appreciate everything I gained from it.
